Steelhead Fishing

Went to Erie on Saturday, September 22 with my brother.  We went to 20 mile creek and the water was perfect color and flow.  My brother had about 15 hook-ups and didn't land any, I had about 6 hook-ups and landed 1.

Tied up my first hopper tonight.  I think it turned out looking good, I see some areas that need improvement.

First Steelhead trip, September 18th, 2011!

Our first trip to the Erie Tribs was successful!  After some decent rainfall, some steelhead made the run.  We started on Elk where we each hooked into fish and Mike ended up landing one.  After a few hours we traveled over to Walnut creek, we hooked into fish here too.  Our most successful tributary was 20 mile creek, we hooked into multiple fish and Alex managed to land his first steelhead.  If this was any indication of what the 2011 steelhead season would be like, we are going to get into a ton of fish this year!

Jason and Alex, with Alex's first steelhead!

Labor Day Weekend Camping trip, Spetmeber 2, 3, 4, 2011!

Every year my Brothers and I take a camping trip at Confluence, PA near the youghiogheny river.  It is always a good time, we spend most of the weekend fishing and just relaxing.  This year my two nephews joined us.  The water levels were constantly changing because of water being let out of the dam, so the fishing was less then desirable.  Although, we were able to get into some fish.  I caught two nice brown trout about 18 inches and a handful of rainbows.

I've been away

I have been so busy this summer.  My wife and I purchased our first house and I have been completely consumed with it!  I will make a few post of my annual camping/fishing trip with my brothers and some recent steelhead trips to the Erie Tribs.

Neshannock Creek

I fished Neshannock Creek today for about 2 hours.  It was snowing and around 24 degrees outside, but when you dress appropriately the cold doesn't matter.  It was a beautiful scene on the creek with the snow coming down (Pictures below).    I only had 1 hook up on a nymph.
